Microcurrent & PEMF Therapies

At Hawk Hill, frequency-based therapies are often woven into hands-on sessions when they are likely to support tissue repair, pain reduction, nervous-system regulation and recovery.

These modalities work with very subtle electrical or electromagnetic signals — similar in scale to the body’s own signalling systems — and are always used thoughtfully, alongside careful assessment and touch.

The devices I use include:

  • Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM) systems

  • SCENAR microcurrent therapy

  • PEMF devices, including Micro-Pulse ICES and OMI mats

Each has a slightly different character and application, and each is chosen based on what your body seems to need on the day.

What is microcurrent therapy?

Microcurrent uses extremely low-level electrical currents — often below the level of sensation — applied through electrodes on the skin.

These currents are sometimes described as operating in the same range as the body’s natural bioelectric signals involved in cellular communication and tissue repair.

In practice, microcurrent therapy is commonly used to support:

  • chronic or acute pain

  • inflammation

  • soft-tissue injuries

  • scar tissue

  • joint irritation

  • nervous-system regulation

  • fatigue and recovery

It is frequently combined with hands-on work rather than used in isolation.

Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM)

Frequency-Specific Microcurrent pairs very small electrical currents with specific frequency sets that practitioners select based on tissue type and functional patterns.

At Hawk Hill, FSM is used as part of an integrated session — often alongside massage or craniosacral-informed work — when a more targeted electrical input seems helpful for calming irritated tissue, supporting circulation, or encouraging repair.

Clients often report sensations such as warmth, softening of tissue, reduced pain, or deep relaxation during or after sessions, though experiences vary.

SCENAR Microcurrent Therapy

SCENAR devices use adaptive microcurrent technology that responds in real time to changes in skin resistance.

This feedback-driven approach is often used to explore areas of persistent pain or nervous-system dysregulation, and to help interrupt long-standing patterns of tension.

In practice, SCENAR therapy may be chosen for:

  • stubborn or recurring pain patterns

  • post-injury recovery

  • nerve irritation

  • stress-related tension

  • areas that do not respond easily to manual work alone

It is frequently integrated into a broader hands-on session rather than used as a standalone treatment.

PEMF Therapy (Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields)

PEMF therapy delivers gentle, pulsed electromagnetic fields through mats or local applicators placed over the body.

These fields are often discussed in relation to cellular signalling, circulation and nervous-system regulation.

At Hawk Hill I use PEMF devices such as Micro-Pulse ICES and OMI mats as supportive tools — particularly for people dealing with pain, fatigue, recovery from injury, sleep issues or chronic stress.

Sessions may involve resting on a mat while other work is done, or focused PEMF applied to specific regions.

What to expect in a frequency-based session

  • A conversation about your symptoms, history and what you are hoping to support.

  • Selection of the most appropriate device or combination of tools.

  • Gentle application while you rest comfortably.

  • Integration with hands-on bodywork when useful.

  • Time to settle and re-orient afterward.

Most people find these treatments subtle rather than dramatic in sensation.

Safety & suitability

Frequency-based therapies are adapted to your health status.

They may not be suitable for people with certain implanted medical devices, during pregnancy in some circumstances, or with specific neurological or cardiac conditions.

Please let me know about any medical devices, recent surgeries or concerns before your session so we can choose the safest approach for you.

Booking

Microcurrent and PEMF therapies are usually incorporated into longer bodywork sessions.

When booking online, simply choose the session length — the modalities used will be selected on the day.
